Wax, Stone, Light - an artistic triad that emerged from the collaboration between designer Linde Freya Tangelder and Cassina.

Behind this extraordinary lighting collection lies the designer's curiosity for liquids that turn into solids. So Tangelder began experimenting with glass in order to familiarise herself with all the characteristics of the material and to discover the influences on transparency, surfaces and light. The result is an interplay of wax, glass and light, captured in a stone-like sculpture.

Craftsmanship

The collection comprises five sculptures of table and floor lamps, reminiscent of stone columns or totem poles. Each individual cube is made by glassblowers on Murano, who blow the glass into cast-iron moulds. The surface of each cube is then handcrafted from wax, creating the unique, irregular shapes. The individual cubes stacked on top of each other are connected to a central customised LED tube, which bathes the entire object in a warm light.

Cassina - a company with tradition

Cassina was founded in 1927 by two brothers in the Italian town of Medina. Shortly after its foundation, Cassina was already doing truly pioneering work. By bringing together architects and designers with the most diverse CVs, interests and skills , an exciting mix of completely new ideas was created, which became characteristic of furniture from Cassina. The company encouraged people to break completely new ground in the areas of materials and design language in order to turn visions into reality.

Today, Cassina is a traditional company that relies on a balanced combination of manual craftsmanship and industrial production using highly developed machines in the manufacture of its furniture. By using natural materials such as leather and wood, a high degree of individuality is achieved.
