Wooden: the 699 Superleggera chair by Cassina. That the wooden chair is part of Cassinas´s range since 1957 must have a good reason. The "good reason" is the minimalistic, timeless design, the high quality finish and light weight - simply Superleggera.
The combination of black and natural is currently one of the great interior trends. The bright rattan ensures comfort, black classic elegance.
Material and size
The frame is made of black lacquered ash, the seat is Spanish cane in elegant natural look which creates a nice contrast.
The backrest is slightly bent backwards which increases the seating comfort - or more precisely when leaning back. The Cassina logo is on the outside of the chair.
The designer chair is 41 cm wide, 45 cm deep and 83 cm high .
The design
Gio Ponti is a true Minimalist "the more minimalistic a shape is, the more expressive it gets". This motto was used by Ponti for his 699 superleggero chair. The design chairs look so graceful and noble, that one never gets tired of it. Thanks to their delicate appearance they do not crowd a room which is often the case with classical wooden chairs.
Ponti (1891-1979) was also a designer and architect. Together with Nervi, Fornaroli and Rosselli he created the hexagonal Pirelli skyscraper, one of the landmarks of Milan.
