A comfortable plastic seat shell and a classic four-legged base give the Hal RE Tube chair its classic expression. This model impresses with its clear lines and minimalist appearance. A seat cushion provides the necessary seating comfort. 

The Hal chair collection

Unusual designs are less easy to combine with existing furnishings than plain and simple designs. Jasper Morrisons also sees it this way and with the Hal chairs has designed a collection that is characterised by clear and contemporary shapes and multifunctional seat shells. 

New to the Hal family are the RE models, which take the collection to a contemporary level and use recycled plastic from household waste for the seat shells. This causes fewer climate-damaging emissions compared to original plastic and consumes less energy.

Jasper Morrison - Designer

Designer Jasper Morrison lives and works in London and Tokyo. He describes his work as "super normal" - because instead of unusual shapes, colours and materials, he focuses on reinterpreting the tried and tested and further developing familiar solutions. He has been working with Vitra since 1989.

Environmentally conscious design for the future: the new RE collection

From January 2024, Vitra will focus on sustainability by producing all seat shells of the Eames Plastic Chairs from recycled post-consumer plastic . The seat shells will have minimal glass fibre reinforcement for stability and quality, with the glass fibre content of an Eames Plastic Chair RE seat shell being 10%. The use of recycled packaging waste gives the seat shells minimal colour pigmentation.

Material and format

The Hal Tube chair consists of a seat shell made of recycled, solid-coloured polypropylene, optionally with a seat cushion screwed to the seat shell and a four-legged base, which is available in a chrome-plated and a powder-coated version. If you opt for the powder-coated version, the chair is also suitable for outdoor use.

The chair is 47 cm wide, 49 cm deep and 79 cm high. The seat height is 43 cm.
