Free-form classic: Mexique table by Cassina
Cassina's Mexique table belongs to the tables en forme libre, which were created between 1938 and 1939. Designed to be as compact as possible for small rooms and joinable into larger, symmetrical units, that was Charlotte Perriand's basic idea. Later, the wooden legs were replaced by triangular, curved metal legs and more and more sizes were added for more and more purposes.
Charlotte Perriand
Having already made a name for herself in 1927 with her "Bar under the Roof", she worked for many years with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in their famous studio at 35 rue de Sèvres in Paris. She then gained further experience in Japan. In her creations, Perriand succeeded in combining innovative rationalism with modern, aesthetic values and thus created a new way of living.
Cassina - a traditional Italian company
Founded in 1927 by two brothers, Cassina was already doing pioneering work shortly afterwards: the close cooperation of architects and designers from different fields led to revolutionary innovations in terms of materials and design language.
In the meantime, it is impossible to imagine the world of furniture design without the traditional company and always convinces with a balanced combination of high-quality, natural materials, manual craftsmanship and advanced production methods.
Material and format
The Mexique tables have a top made of solid or lacquered wood and legs made of matt black or gunmetal lacquered metal.
