Cherry wood

Cherry wood can only be ordered until the end of the year and is now on offer while stocks last. This moderately hard wood is a popular furniture wood due to its warm colour and is often used for sophisticated interior design . 

Natural cherry wood

Chestnut wood shows large growth rings and its open grain is warm and inviting. In the clear lacquered version, the wood is honey-coloured and darkens with age to a light golden-red-brown.

Light chestnut

Santos rosewood

Santos rosewood is a particularly strong and resistant wood (Bolivia, sustainability-certified). Thanks to its dark colouring and smooth surface, the wood looks particularly elegant. The Santos rosewood version, black sides and black leather corresponds to the original design by Ray & Charles Eames

 Experience luxury in every size

The classic version of the Eames Lounge Chair is optimised for people up to 1.80 m tall, while the new XL version has been specially developed for people over 1.80 m tall. The difference lies in the dimensions and the height of the chair, whereby the XL version offers an ergonomically adapted sitting position for people with a taller body size. Both versions retain the iconic style and timeless comfort of the Eames Lounge Chair, but allow individual adaptation to the needs of different user groups.

 Leather Premium F 

Premium leather is a rather smooth cowhide with a flat grain pattern and a slight top grain lustre. Sustainability was always an important issue for Ray and Charles Eames. For this reason, Vitra is helping to further develop the age-old tradition of leather tanning with a view to sustainability: The new Premium F leather, tanned on the basis of olive tree leaves, is as free as possible from environmentally harmful substances and manufacturing processes. The leather comes from cattle from Denmark, southern Germany and Switzerland, which further minimises the carbon footprint of production. The leather has a pleasant soft feel. The thickness is 1.1-1.3 mm. 

Base and feet 

The base of the Eames Lounge Chair consists of a swivel 5-star base and a die-cast aluminium backrest bracket. The matching ottoman is equipped with a non-rotating 4-star base. The sides of the base frame are available here in black with polished edges .
