Luxurious, maximum comfort and a classically understated design language - the Grand Relax armchair from Vitra is the new elegant armchair with added comfort.

This results from the perfect interplay of various elements: high-quality leather surrounds softly filled seat and back cushions, which are designed to be so flexible that they return to their original shape after standing up. An integrated mechanism concealed in the armchair ensures that the user sinks in slowly when sitting down and is guided into a comfortable resting position. A rotary knob allows the mechanism to be adjusted and various positions to be locked. The elegant four-star base allows the armchair to swivel through 360 degrees.

The armchair is also a real eye-catcher. The lower half of the back of the seat shell is edged with textured split leather. The remaining elements are covered in Premium leather, creating an exciting contrast between the inside and outside of the armchair.

Antonio Citterio - Designer

Antonio Citterio opened his own design studio at the age of 22 and worked together with Terry Dawn on buildings in Europe and Japan from 1987 to 1996. Together with Patricia Viel, he founded an interdisciplinary studio for architecture, interior design and graphic design in 2000. In addition to Vitra, he co-operates with many other well-known companies in the design furniture industry, e.g. B&B Italia, Flos, Kartell and Technogym.

Material and format

The Grand Relax consists of a body made of moulded polyurethane foam with a plastic frame and an integrated, lockable synchronous mechanism. The base is a swivel four-star base made of die-cast aluminium, available in a polished or powder-coated version. The seat cushion is a chamber cushion filled with foam and fibre balls. The back and neck cushions are filled with foam cubes and a mixture of goose feathers and down. The backrest cover and edging of the base and seat and the lever for power adjustment are upholstered in high-quality split leather Forte.

The Grand Relax armchair is 69 cm wide, 81 cm deep and 101 or 106 cm high, depending on the setting. The seat height is also between 41.5 and 46.5 cm.
