The cubist seating furniture, designed by architectural legend Le Corbusier in collaboration with Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret, offers unrivalled seating comfort with its voluminous upholstery and is one of the most popular and famous pieces of seating furniture ever. The designer armchair, which became known as LC3, was renamed by the manufacturer Cassina in 2022 to honour the two other designers involved. This lounge version for outdoors, with its lower seat height and wider seat, continues to impress with its elegant, timelessly beautiful look.
Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand
Born in 1887, the Swiss-French architect, artist and furniture designer is considered one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. In 1922, Le Corbusier began working with Pierre Jeanneret in the studio on Rue de Sèvres in Paris, and five years later they were joined by the aspiring architect Charlotte Perriand. Together with Corbusier's cousin Pierre Jeanneret, they dedicated themselves to the innovative project "l'équipement d'intérieur de l'habitation". This collaboration proved to be very successful, particularly in the area of furniture design. Today, designer furniture is produced by Cassina. They continue to impress with their timeless design and enjoy unbroken popularity.
Cassina - a traditional Italian company
Founded in 1927 by two brothers, Cassina was already doing pioneering work shortly afterwards: the close collaboration between architects and designers from different fields led to revolutionary innovations in terms of materials and design language. Since then, the traditional company has become an integral part of the world of furniture design and continues to impress with a balanced combination of high-quality, natural materials, manual craftsmanship and advanced production methods.
Material and format
The outdoor lounge chair from Cassina is made of stainless steel in five possible colour variations. The loose polyurethane foam cushions are resin-filled with polyester wadding and covered with water-repellent fabric. You can choose from the following cover materials:
- Fabric E (Egadi): 100% polypropylene
- Fabric F (Fiji): 100% spun-dyed acrylic
- Fabric F (Filicudi): 88% polypropylene, 12% polyester
- Fabric L (Kemi): 100% dyed acrylic
The design classic for outdoors is 99 cm wide, 73 cm deep and 40 cm high.
