Modern India: Kangaroo armchair by Cassina

Cassinas' study of the furniture of the city of Chandigarh continues: the Kangaroo armchair joins the "Hommage à Pierre Jeanneret" collection. The design armchair is characterised by the "Z" shape of the side parts, which look like kangaroo arms. The wooden frames of the seat and backrest feature the wickerwork typical of India. Kangaroo is an exceptionally beautiful piece of seating furniture that will enhance any living space. 

Chandigarh 

The Chandigarh project is considered the most mature work of Le Corbusier, who infused his creativity, technology and ideology into the architecture of India's megacity. Another key figure in the project was his cousin Pierre Jeanneret. His many years of intensive involvement with the region led him to combine essential forms with simple materials. In this way, he succeeded in creating a connection between modern European ideals and Indian tradition, which is also reflected in the Kangaroo chair. 

Cassina - a traditional Italian company 

Founded in 1927 by two brothers, Cassina was already doing pioneering work shortly afterwards: the close cooperation of architects and designers from different fields led to revolutionary innovations in terms of materials and design language. In the meantime, it is impossible to imagine the world of furniture design without the traditional company and always convinces with a balanced combination of high-quality, natural materials, manual craftsmanship and advanced production methods. 

Material and format 

The Kangaroo armchair is 58 cm wide, 67 cm deep and 62 cm high. 

In addition to the traditional teak version, the natural oak, black stained oak and dark stained walnut versions are also available on request.
