Konstantin Grcic - master of reduction
The Bench System was also designed by Konstantin Grcic, one of the most influential German designers of our time. After training as a cabinetmaker and studying design at the Royal College of Art in London, he set up his own studio in Munich. Grcic's designs are known for their formal rigour, intelligent use of materials and subtle irony. His work has been honoured with numerous international awards, including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro. With the Bench System, Grcic once again demonstrates his extraordinary flair for reduction to the essentials and creates an icon of timeless simplicity.
