Grythyttan Stålmöbler is a traditional Swedish family business with roots dating back to 1895, when founder Karl Lindqvist and his friend Theodor Berg opened a blacksmith's shop in the village of Grythyttan, west of Stockholm. In 1930, the company designed and manufactured its first chair, the legendary A2 armchair, which was presented at the Stockholm Exhibition. The gentle spring effect of the steel frame gave a unique feeling of relaxation - the success was immediate and overwhelming.
