The revolutionary thing about the Sieben chair at the time of its creation in 1955 was the layered gluing technique used in its manufacture. This was perfected in the 1920s and 1930s by Soeren C. Hansen - the grandson of company founder Fritz Hansen.

Arne Jacobsen, for his part, fully utilised the possibilities of laminate gluing and created the best-selling Fritz Hansen designer chair to date.
