Pretty birds: Lovebirds lovebirds black wooden figures by Kay Bojesen
Unique and absolutely timeless - the lovebirds by Kay Bojesen in black are inspired by ravens. Because of their black look they are very timeless and can always be combined with everything. While one bird is glossy lacquered, the other one is matt and so there is a wonderful duality that gives the home accessory an additional special flair. The figure of the lovebirds is a great wedding gift with profound meaning.
Designer Kay Bojesen
The fine craftsman and designer Kay Bojesen produced more than 2000 different designs in the course of his career. This makes him one of the most productive Danish craftsmen of the 20th century. Besides the well-known and popular monkeys and other wooden animals, his work also includes jewellery, cutlery, teapots and silver goblets. Kay Bojesen first completed an apprenticeship as a silversmith with Georg Jensen. With the birth of his son Otto in 1919, Bojesen became interested in children's toys. He carved small wooden figurines and finally focused his interest entirely on working with wood in the 1930s. He deliberately did not want to create lifelike copies of animals, but rather imaginative variations with a soft and flowing design that has its origins in the imagination of children.
Material and size
The birds are made of painted beech wood. They are 9 cm high. In order to keep the joy of the home accessory for a long time, the pair of birds should be protected from direct sunlight and only wiped with a dry cloth.
