A trio of materials: Layout Side Chair 112 from HAY
The Layout Chair 112 from HAY is a fascinating study in the combination of materials and minimalist design. In this design by Julien Renault, a shell made of recycled plastic meets an elegantly moulded seat made of veneer wood. This exciting contrast of warmth and modern practicality is supported by a lightweight tubular steel sled base, which gives the chair stability and a clear line. As a stackable all-rounder, the Layout Chair 112 cuts an excellent figure both at the dining table and in the conference room and impressively demonstrates how harmoniously different materials can interact.

Julien Renault - The poetry of the everyday
The Layout Chair was created by French designer Julien Renault, who runs his studio in Brussels. Renault's approach to design is characterised by finding inspiration in the everyday and transforming ordinary things into objects of special beauty. His work, which combines rational methods with artistic freedom, explores the deep relationship between objects and their surroundings. He has already designed the successful Pastis collection and the Compass lamps for HAY, which emphasises his ability to create functional yet expressive designs.
