The modern interpretation of Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese aesthetics - the design duo Hansen and Hyldahl were inspired by Danish upholstered chairs from the 1950s and designed an elegant, lightweight dining chair. The back resembles the ear of an elephant and gives the simple yet unusual chair its name.

Its shape offers maximum comfort. The two shells surround the body in a gentle curve and mould themselves to the body. The Elephant chair is handcrafted from solid oak and is available with various leather covers.

Design team Hansen + Hydahl

Designer Tommy Hyldahl is the founderof NORR11. He is responsible for the creative DNA of the manufacturer and his interest in the materials and production processes is evident in every single NORR11 product. Since 2015, he has been working together with Kristian Sofus Hansen, who graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts . The two designers share a passion for Japanese simplicity and Scandinavian tradition, which they combine in their designs to create timeless furniture.

NORR11 - Scandinavian design

The Danish furniture manufacturer NORR11 was founded in 2011. The company's focus is to redefine and rethink the understanding of Scandinavian design and thus create timeless pieces of furniture that combine the present and the past. This goal is achieved through collaboration with innovative young designers. This results in products of outstanding craftsmanship and quality.

Material and format

The Elephant armchair has an oak frame and an upholstered seat shell with fabric or leather upholstery, each available in different versions. It is 47 cm wide without armrests, 53 cm deep and 80.5 cm high. The seat height is 45.5 cm. With armrests, it is 58 cm wide, 53 cm deep and 80.5 cm high. The seat height is 49 cm.
