Future vision: Fresnel Outdoor floor lamp from Oluce
Designer Joe Colombo had great intentions with the Fresnel luminaire - he wanted to design it to look like one of those perfect objects that cannot be improved. The essentiality and practicality of the luminaire still stand for its elegance today. Its simple look makes it a stylish lighting object.
The Fresnel lens with a diameter of 10 cm is the focus of the design and is found throughout the entire series.
Joe Colombo –the Designer
Joe Columbo counts among the most important Italian designers of the 20th century. In his short life - he died in 1971 at only 41 years of age - he created numerous designs that reflect his vision of the future. One of these was a mini kitchen presented at the XIII Triennale, which consisted of a plastic-coated ash wood construction on castors and contained hot plates, an open, a skewer and a grill. As well as space for a refrigerator and kitchen utensils such as plates, cutlery, glasses - these were placed in special lofts to protect them from breaking. Joe Colombo's version of the future envisaged an undifferentiated spatial structure in which transitions were fluid and spaces were boundless.
Oluce – Italian luminaire design
The Italian company Oluce was founded as early as 1945 and is the oldest Italian design company in the lighting industry that still produces today. Many of the luminaires have become icons that have been in vogue for generations. Their design quality makes them real perennial favourites.
Material and size
The outdoor light is made of painted aluminium and galvanised metal. It has a Fresnel lens diffuser and is 40 cm high with a diameter of 10 cm for the lamp and 13 cm for the base.
