Today Flos is an international company with offices in Europe, Hong Kong and the USA. Besides lamps for the living area Flos also offers tailored solutions made of light for hotels, shops, offices and cultural buildings. The corporate branches soft Architecture and Flos Architectural Lighting offer integrated solutions which bring architecture and lighting in line.

The designers of Flos

Besides the design icons Tobia Scarpa and the Castiglioni brothers many aspiring young designers design for Flos from the eighties onward. Many of them today represent a fixture in international design business. The entire list reads like a who is who of product design industry.

Luminator Stehleuchte

The forefather of Italian design, establishes in partnership with his brother Pier Giacomo (1913-1968) his own design studio. His trademark is simple, sober design in a surprising composition. He uses ordinary materials to create something new. In 1955 he wins his first Compasso d'Or Design Award together with his brother for the Flos Luminator floor lamp - eight more are to come.

Tischleuchte Biagio

Tobia Scarpa was born in 1935 and founded his own studio with his partner Afra after studying architecture and design. The couple oscillates constantly between architecture and product design and is successful in both areas. For Flos Scarpa designs among others the impressive floor lamp Fantasma and table lamp Biagio.

Miss K Tischleuchte

The French designer Philippe Starck was born in Paris in 1949 and is now one of the best known representatives of the "New Design". His basic vision is that each creation is to improve the lives of as many people as possible. The tireless and worldwide sought-after designer created for Flos for example the Miss K table lamp.

Glo Ball S1/S2

The British designer was born in London in 1950. He comes from exhibition design, city planning and installations to product design. Morrison stands for the "New Simplicity" and is characterized by the fact that he reduces design masterfully to its essentials. For Flos he designed, among others, the successful Glo-Ball series.

Products by Flos

There is no type of luminaire, the Italian design manufacturer has not produced in the last fifty years. From floor, ceiling and pendant lights on to table, wall and hanging lamps the range of Flos covers the whole spectrum of lamps and lights. Each individual product convinces with modern design, traditional craftsmanship and high quality materials.

Bogenleuchte Arco

A masterpiece of modern lighting design is the Floor Lamp Arco by the brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, which unique and pioneering design is copied even today. The pendant lamp Taraxacum with its elastic synthetic material established the cocoon effect, which is typical for Flos.

The multi-purpose lamp May Day by Konstantin Grcic is an all-rounder. It not only won the design prize Compasso d'Oro, but can also be admired at the New York Museum of Modern Art.
