Bring light into the dark with the right pendant lamp

Pendant and suspension lamps provide a very solid basis for sophisticated lighting concepts. As classic residential lighting they are versatile and can be combined fanciful with other light sources, because a single light source alone does not create a homely atmosphere. Choosing the right pendant lamp helps greatly to give your living room a cozy ambience. They must meet not only decorative but also functional demands.

Who wants to illuminate a dining or living room table, will perhaps opt for a multiple element pendant lamp. A small table is already served optimally with light by a single lamp. But Pendant lights can do much more than just illuminate the room – some models are ideal to set specific highlights. It is this versatility with which the family of pendants delight every time - no wonder that all the big luminaire designers have contributed their individual designs.

Pendant lamps with exciting design

PH 5 pendant lamp Contemporary

It is perhaps the best-selling lamp for dining rooms throughout Scandinavia: the PH 5 pendant lamp Contemporary. It was created in 1957 by Poul Henningsen for the Danish lamp manufacturer Louis Poulsen. Its soft, warm and wonderful dazzle-free light shines both horizontally and vertically through several refined diffusers. The shape of the shade PH 5 is based on a logarithmic spiral. This design principle scatters the indirect light evenly diffused, while it shields direct light effectively. By the way: In addition to the classic version with matt finish the stunning PH 5 pendant lamp Contemporary is also available in different glossy colours.

Copper pendant lamp Tom Dixon

One of the most famous and probably most popular designs of the British eccentric Tom Dixon is the Copper pendant lamp. With its discreet elegance, this designer lamp possesses a special charm. The fascinating lampshade is shaped like a sphere. It distributes the light only via a small part downwards - perfect for a highly effective spot lighting. The plastic screen is coated with a thin copper layer – due to this the unique hanging lamp by Tom Dixon Copper gets its name. In its polished copper-coloured exterior the whole environment is reflected. This effect makes the Copper pendant light into a fascinating visual highlight.

Aim pendant light Flos

A lamp or an art object? The Aim pendant lamp by Flos is both! With its unconventional design the brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec invalidate several basic rules of luminaire design. Thanks to its nine meter long cable the power supply for this pendant lamp is suddenly so much more than just a means to an end - here the cable clutter is an aesthetic concept. The height of the lampshade can be varied at all times thanks to the sliding suspension, as well as the inclination of the light emission. Its unique spatial effect predestines the Aim pendant lamp to be an individual accentuated light for minimalist spaces because here it can develop its full effect. A lamp for true individualists!
